Jeanmarie says, “I was introduced to LaBR when we adopted our first boxer, Sadie in 2000, when LaBR was just getting started. Our boxer love affair began with Sadie, and we have been addicted ever since! She was the most amazing creature, and needless to say, we fell hopelessly in love with her, and with the breed. Since Sadie, we’ve adopted four more boxers from LaBR over the years, including Bruno, Deja, Lola and now Beau. We have loved each and every one of these amazing dogs beyond measure, but they have given us so much more in return. Nothing but unconditional love, loyalty and pure joy. We receive so much from them, that we wanted to give back in some way. So my husband Dan and I initially became involved in volunteering with LaBR by occasionally assisting with transport, helping with dog-wash day fundraisers, and other LaBR festivals now and then. A few years ago however, I took volunteering a step further and now devote time to finding forever homes for our very deserving rescues, by talking with potential adopters and trying to find the right dog for the right family. My husband likes to say I’m a “matchmaker” of sorts.  My hopes are always to match up a dog with their perfect forever home, and when that happens, it is so rewarding and joyful. Finding loving, safe and forever homes for boxers in need…that’s what it’s all about.”
